Enriching Lives through Online Training
WARD CONFERENCE (9/11/05)

WARD COUNCIL

Pres. Youngblood –
3 Ne. 6:4; D&C 132:8
Need not run till weary if all things are done in order.
Everyone can be involved in Family History (even if they don’t have a calling).
Involve members in this, especially inactive members.
Hold a mini-ward council every Sunday at 10:40 am (20 minutes before the PH/RS) starting this coming Sunday. Get investigator status from the Ward Mission Leader at this meeting … and get everyone updated on the weekly "status" of things/members. Hold another member/ missionary seminar and a follow up missionary fireside to which friends may be invited. Prospective Elders are now under the "jurisdiction" of and home taught by the High Priests (even though they are still members of the Elders Quorum). KNOW the MEMBERS (personally). Get your house in order. Take a few minutes each day to decide/focus on what needs to be done TODAY.

PRIESTHOOD MEETING

Pres. Tidwell –
We come into mortality to: (1) gain a body, (2) make & keep covenants. Our "progress" hinges on our interactions with others (serving/ blessing them). It is our responsibility/ duty/ opportunity to put our arms around our brothers and sisters. Magnify calling – see the details of it and focus on them. It’s the little extra that brings all the blessings. Giving more than the "minimum" (Do your very best).

SUNDAY SCHOOL

Bishop Voyles –
Paying tithing shows our gratitude. Be generous.

Pres. Youngblood –
3 Ne. 10:14 – We must search and understand the scriptures. If we "treasure them up" we will want to share this treasure (as we would any other treasure)! (search—ponder—pray) Pray and study the scriptures with family (together). Study 1st thing in the morning (get up early … [go to bed early, so you can]) (i.e. put on the armor of God at the beginning of the day). One good way to search the scriptures is pick a topic that's on your mind and thoroughly research that topic! (use the scripture search feature on the church’s website to find every scripture related to the topic you are searching). Study more "actively." Just need to allocate the time to do this (as with anything important).

SACRAMENT MEETING

Bishop Voyles –
Only with an eternal perspective will we make the best choices (i.e. an understanding of the Plan of Salvation). We make temporal sacrifices to be able to enjoy spiritual blessings.

Pres. Mendenhall –
Reverence – pondering, respecting, remembering (blessings & etc)… It is more than quietly sitting. We live by the spirit via reverence.

From a Member’s testimony – Read your Patriarchal Blessing.

Pres. Youngblood –
Respect others (one another). Respect authority. Respect God. In prayer, focus more on expressing thanks than in making requests. Children respect parents (might consider children using "Yes, Mam" and "Yes, Sir" when talking to parents); parents respect children. Go to/ use the temple. Study/ Ponder the Book of Mormon. Far better to act than to be acted upon. Share the Gospel.
