Enriching Lives through Online Training

Perspective on Life

The purpose of life is to become like our Father in Heaven ... to acquire those qualities of character he already possesses.

The ONLY way we can do this is through life's experiences ... those that s-t-r-e-t-c-h us, sometimes to our limits. Seeing this, we would not so dread those challenges that "push" us out of our comfort zone ... we would welcome them, even seek them out!

"I refuse to tiptoe through life, only to arrive safely at death." (unknown)

"Trials, temptations, disappointments—all these are helps instead of hindrances, if one uses them rightly. They not only test the fiber of character but strengthen it. Every conquering temptation represents a new fund of moral energy. Every trial endured and weathered in the right spirit makes a soul nobler and stronger than it was before." -- James Buckham

"Every hardship; every joy; every temptation is a challenge of the spirit; that the human soul may prove itself. The great chain of necessity wherewith we are bound has divine significance; and nothing happens which has not some service in working out the sublime destiny of the human soul." -- Elias A. Ford

"Things don't go wrong and break your heart so you can become bitter and give up. They happen to break you down and build you up so you can be all that you were intended to be." -- Charles "Tremendous" Jones

"Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves…do not seek the answers which cannot be given you because you would not be able to live them and the point is to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answer." -- Rainer Maria Rilke

“And see that all these things are done in wisdom and order; for it is not requisite that a man should run faster than he has strength. And again, it is expedient that he should be diligent, that thereby he might win the prize; therefore, all things must be done in order.” (Mosiah 4:27)

"The key to overcoming ADVERSITY is ACTION... taking swift action to move beyond your current circumstances, to where you want to go. What happens when you sit, wait and worry? Adversity wins … every time." (ThinkTQ, 8/8/07) "All you need to do to start SEEING opportunities, is to look beyond your PROBLEMS and start seeing SOLUTIONS... by changing your point of view. You get a lot SMARTER when you freeze negative emotions, and engage your brain in looking at your circumstances from a fresh new vantage point. If you simply apply your power of observation to finding solutions, rather than staying absorbed in the problem, you will stop seeing the problem... and start seeing the opportunity contained within it." (TodaysTQ, 8/17/07)
